Intro to Metalsmithing: Cold Connections and Hammer Textures (Inclusion Series)

  • The Inventor Center 118 Shelby Street Kingsport, TN, 37660 United States (map)

Cold connections are a great option if you do not want to set up a soldering station! Students will design a simple, 2-3 layer pendant, and then work with the instructor to complete it. We will talk about different kinds of rivets, making jump rings, and annealing and texturing our metal. Plus, play with patinas to make your copper layers stand out!

Please wear natural fibers, close-toed shoes, full length pants, and have any long hair pulled back. If you would like to bring your own safety glasses you may; otherwise, we will have extras here.

*Age 16+ (under 18 MUST be accompanied by a guardian)

This workshop is part of our "Inclusion" series where we invite anyone who may not feel comfortable using these tools to join us in the metal or wood shop (or both!), learn some new skills, and meet other people who are also new to this! All of our instructors for this series are prepared for complete beginners, we hope you will join us!
