Inclusion in Woodworking and Metalsmithing!

You belong here.

Have you ever wanted to visit The Inventor Center, but were nervous about trying new techniques, didn’t feel like you would fit in or belong, or just haven’t had the chance to learn yet? These sessions are for you!

We are creating an intentional space for newcomers; we aim to remove barriers to joining our community of makers, creatives, artists, and thinkers. Whatever your intersectional identity, you are welcome here! If you have questions, you are always welcome to reach out to us at theinventorcenter@gmail.com!

We Can Do It!

Workshops include metalsmithing, blacksmithing*, welding, woodworking, and refinishing! Our goal is to get you started with the building blocks for your medium(s) of choice; then you can continue on your own or here along with a community of other curious people!

Members of The Inventor Center receive free trainings on the majority of our equipment, so you can keep learning once you feel comfortable.

*we do not currently have a blacksmithing setup but will have more classes coming up

We would love to have an open dialogue as we grow, and are so thankful for this opportunity to focus on inclusion! We welcome feedback and suggestions, information on needs we have not met, and ways we can actively include folx. This is an ever ongoing process, and we appreciate your support to speed it along!

"Arts Project Support (APS) provides funds for a wide variety of quality arts and humanities projects and public programs." We were awarded this grant by the Tennessee Arts Commission.
