Introduction to Woodworking: Decorative Box

  • Inventor Center 118 Shelby St Kingsport (map)

It is often said that everything a woodworker builds is just a variation on a box; let's make one!

Join us for this fun collab between Lumber and Craft JC and The Inventor Center!

Learning the basics of box construction teaches students skills that will help them build everything from cabinets to a chest of drawers. In this class, students will build basic skills every woodworker should know including milling, accounting for wood movement, joinery, surface prep, and finishing. Students will learn to use a combination of power tools and hand tools, then walk away with a beautiful keep-sake box!

Age 16+*

*Under 18 MUST be accompanied by a guardian.

Please plan to bring a lunch with you to eat during a short break.

Students must be wearing close-toed shoes, with no loose-hanging garments. Long hair must be secured. We recommend you bring a notepad to take notes!
