Intro to Blacksmithing: Forged Bracelets (Inclusion Series)

  • The Inventor Center 118 Shelby Street Kingsport, TN, 37660 United States (map)

Students will learn some of the fundamentals of blacksmithing: drawing, tapering, good proportions in forging, twisting, and how to get a balanced result. We will also cover using the horn as a shaping die and hot cutting.

We will talk about hammer control, basic tooling, items needed to set up a beginner shop, and other concepts useful to the new Smith. This is a great crash course in getting started with blacksmithing!

This workshop is part of our "Inclusion" series where we invite anyone who may not feel comfortable using these tools to join us in the metal or wood shop (or both!), learn some new skills, and meet other people who are also new to this! All of our instructors for this series are prepared for complete beginners, we hope you will join us!

Please wear cotton or non synthetic clothes that you don't mind getting very dirty, full-length pants, and close-toed shoes.

Age 16+ (Under 18 MUST be accompanied by a guardian)
